Shades of Autumn

It's that most colourful time of the year once more, the season of reds, bronzes, yellows, golds, coppers and russets - the shades of Autumn.

As Victoria Erickson once said, “If a year was tucked inside of a clock, then autumn would be the magic hour.” It is possible to capture all of the hues of Autumn in a single picture if you are lucky.

Reds are more rarely to be found around here with the bronzes, yellows, golds and russets being much more prevalent, but when you do find them well, pow! Spectacular or what?

As Jim Bishop would have it, “Autumn carries more gold in its pocket than all the other seasons.” and this is certainly true in my neck of the woods.

I’m so glad to be here, camera in hand, to snap something of it's glory, something of it's radiant beauty before it oh so quickly fades away and ushers in the bare bleakness of Winter.

In conclusion, I echo the sentiments of Dodinsky who wrote, “I hope I can be the autumn leaf, who looked at the sky and lived. And when it was time to leave, gracefully it knew life was a gift.” The shades of Autumn.
