A great way to find opportunities to make photographs is to take a walk along the towpath of a canal where it passes through a city. Huge fun.
Whereas in the old days you might have encountered the wreckage and detritus of the run down canal side industry of yore, these days you are much more like to run into restored and repurposed original buildings or indeed modern commercial constructions with interesting architecture.
You will find many interesting old features still preserved and lots of old trees and protected bits of nature too.
Inevitably there will be people messing about in boats as the canals main purpose in the modern world is leisure of course.
So going walkabout along a canal in town can be very rewarding photographically speaking just grab your camera and venture out and see what you shall see.
